Artisan Spotlight: Cathy Enos

Cathy Enos has lived her entire life on Cape Cod. Her cousin's research has traced her family roots back to 1621 when the family arrived on the Cape from England. She was encouraged to work with fabric and fiber by her older sister Donna who bought her first sewing machine at the age of eight. With much patience Donna taught her to knit, crochet and sew. Cathy, like many other artists, needed to try other media. Cape Cod Regional Technical High School was the perfect school to study pottery, jewelry, glass work and more.
Cathy had a vision of designing and creating original tapestry handbags. She loved collecting the embellishments that are used to create each piece.
Recently she has moved forward with her handbags by learning embroidery digitizing to create her own designs to stitch out on her machine. The designs are first created on her computer and then transferred to the embroidery machine. The fabric and fiber colors for these designs are chosen based on the hand-painted Czech glass button and all elements of the piece coordinate with that button.

Cathy is currently a juried member and doing shows with The Society of Cape Cod Craftsmen and the Artisans' Guild of Cape Cod.

Artisan Spotlight: Doris Riddle

Before moving to the Cape in 2002, Doris Riddle lived in the mountains of North Carolina and was fortunate enough to attend some of the wonderful craft schools of the Appalachian Mountains. She learned to cut stones and to use gold and silver to create her wonderful jewelry pieces which she hopes jewelry collectors find memorable and enjoyable.

All of Doris' jewelry is handcrafted and she utilizes only natural stones and gems in her creations.
